Visual Design
Brief
Alua asked for a series of high-performing Instagram ads to promote their hormone-balancing supplement, aimed at women experiencing menopause-related symptoms. The focus was on creating visually calming but confident creatives that felt modern, premium, and reassuring, while clearly communicating product benefits for paid social.
The client specifically wanted to explore generative AI imagery as part of the visual direction, while maintaining a strong brand identity and commercial clarity suitable for e-commerce.
My Role
I was fully responsible for the creative direction and design of this project. This included concept development, moodboarding, visual language, layout, typography, colour palette, and final asset delivery. While generative AI was used to produce base imagery, all creative input, prompting, selection, refinement, compositing, and final design decisions were mine. I also edited and polished the final visuals to ensure consistency, balance, and platform readiness.
Design Approach
The core idea was to visually express balance and flow, reflecting the product’s promise of hormone support. I used soft gradients, rounded forms, and fluid, organic shapes to suggest calm, movement, and internal harmony. These elements helped counter the more clinical feel often associated with supplements and instead positioned the product as supportive and empowering.
Typography was kept bold and clear to ensure key claims remained readable at small sizes and in fast-scroll environments. I deliberately balanced emotive headlines with concise benefit statements to support performance while avoiding an overly aggressive sales tone. Colour choices leaned into warm pastels and gentle contrasts to feel soothing, approachable, and aligned with the target audience.
Each concept was designed in both feed and story formats, ensuring consistency across placements while adapting hierarchy and pacing for different viewing behaviours.
Outcome
The result was a set of polished, cohesive Instagram ad concepts designed specifically for paid e-commerce use. The visuals clearly communicate benefits, feel premium and trustworthy, and translate well across formats, while still leaving room for iteration and testing within a performance marketing context.
